At Manchester college, 2yr H.N.D
How did you start up this business in the Arts and Craft centre in the Northern Quarter?
The college had a special funding scheme which enabled Ciera Clarke, Julia Roy Williams, Roshine McAulliffe and Hannah Lindenholm to work together in the Northern Quarters Arts and Craft Centre Boutique called "The Space". The college however has decided to discontinue in the funding for this scheme but the girls are going to keep the shop going by renting out the space independently.
What is your label called?
'Blac'
Do you sell your work anywhere else besides at 'The Space'?
They sell there work at other Gallery's on a sale and return basis, at a craft fair in Chorlton and the Christmas market stalls. Selling work in gallery's isn't always as profitable because they take 50% commission for each item sold.
How do you advertise?
They advertise via there own website, blogs, Myspace, Facebook and just recently had an article put in 'Model' which is a Manchester magazine.
Do you know of any agency's that can give business advise?
Blue Orchid' and it's free.
Do you travel anywhere other than Manchester to sell your work?
They like Camden and have plans to visit Brighton.
Where do you get your inspiration from?
Art Deco and Bauhaus mainly using Metals, Plastics and Resins.
